The school year has started, which means Fall sports are in full swing! After a week or two of fully loaded schedules, most Americans are ready for Labor Day! In today's world, Labor Day is an opportunity for rest, relaxation, and recreation!
Before we talk about how to capitalize on your time off on Labor Day Weekend... let's first explore the history!
History of Labor Day
American workers, during the height of the Industrial Revolution, averaged 12-hour days 7 days a week to ensure a decent living. Leaving labor activists no choice but to rally and push legislation for better working conditions, fair wages, and shorter work days. The first Labor Day was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5th, 1882 in New York City. This event symbolizes the power of strength in numbers and the importance of the physical and mental well-being of workers!
The physical demands may have been different during the industrial days compared to today's demands. However, looking at America's health overall we need to put more energy into our own physical and mental well-being more than ever!
